In February we marked a milestone at our charity shop on Ladybrook Place, Mansfield – Open Door. The shop opened on 28th February 2000 and on its 20th anniversary we marked the occasion at the shop, whereby both staff and customers joined in the celebration.
The shop has been a focal point in Ladybrook Place. It not only sells clothing, books, DVDs and bric-a-brac but also hot and cold drinks, toast and tea cakes and other snacks. There is a seating area where customers can sit down for a drink and a chat while they shop. It is a warm and welcoming place and many of our customers, who are living on their own, have benefitted from friendships made in the shop.
It is managed by Vanessa Spedding and her assistant, Maggie Simmons and a team of volunteers. During the celebration, two of our volunteers, Glenys Kilby and Sandra Carlin, received flowers in honour of their 20 years service at the shop.
